Then the door locked.
The man with the damaged ear drew a knife from beneath the cleaning cart. The men and ledger downstairs had been a diversion. His true purpose was to erase witnesses. Xu Zhi reached the corridor and rammed the door with her camera. When Shen Yan returned, he heard glass break inside.
He consulted the watch.
If he kicked down the door, the knife would enter Wanqing's neck.
