Bell closed his notebook. “Eight years ago, Kane told me to study the wrong penalty taker before the match. He said the lineup had changed. Afterward, he made me admit publicly that I'd read the kick badly. If I refused, Crown Sports would immediately call in an investment debt owed by my father.”
The vice president shot to his feet. “That is defamation.”
“Excellent.” Su activated the recorder on her phone. “Please sue. During disclosure, we'll request the investment debt, the defender's transfer, and today's addendum.”
