Chapter Four: The Second Scene
Something whispered inside the wall. The silver coil cracked open and hair-thin phase threads crawled toward Lin's wrist. Zhou severed them with cutters. Golden sparks burst, and blood poured from his nose.
“What did you see?”
“The anchor's next load.” He wiped his face, paler than she was. “Tomorrow night, on the river expressway. It isn't the weight of a thousand people.”
He looked toward the city center behind the morning fog.
“It's the weight of an entire bridge falling.”
