“I bought it with cash. Check the store camera.”
The risk director arrived minutes later. Zhao Qian was in his forties, with a green die on each cuff link. He never looked at the ticket. He studied Lin instead.
“Did Mr. Gu send you?”
“I don't know him.”
Zhao smiled. “Everyone says that when seventy million is involved. We must hold the ticket for twenty-four hours.”
Lin kept his palm on it. “The original cannot leave the bearer's sight. Call the police or give it back.”
After ten minutes, they returned it. At the elevator Zhao said, “Some fortunes don't make you rich. They bring somebody else to life. Don't investigate Gu Changqing.”
As the doors closed, Lin saw the number 03 engraved on Zhao's die.
