His director's fury erupted from the speaker. “Where the hell are you? The festival wants us flying again tomorrow!”
Lu stared down at the plaza. The sinking sun pulled long shadows from the crowd, tangling them together. Only the stone at his own feet remained terrifyingly clean.
In twenty-four hours, many people would die here.
And the only one who knew in advance wasn't Lu.
It was the thing that had failed to return with the sun.
