By 3:55 p.m., the Fed governor had spoken, crude had whipsawed, Bitcoin had bled, and HelixGrid was trending among venture capital accounts because somebody at a major fund had leaked the valuation.

Nothing.

Ethan did not click immediately. His pulse had become a physical object lodged behind his ribs. Outside, Queens moved through another gray afternoon, millions of people obeying gravity, time, rent, debt, hunger, bosses, bad luck.
He had one day.
