Marcus looked at Ethan. "I want Ethan as an operating partner."
The words hit the table hard.
Priya turned to him. For the first time since he had met her, Ethan saw something unguarded in her face. Not fear. Not jealousy exactly. A flash of anger at being bypassed, mixed with the colder realization that Marcus had not invited her to pitch. He had invited her to watch.
"He has no operating experience," she said.
"Neither did half the men who now run the country."
"That is not an argument in your favor."
