Chapter Two: Blank Takes the Job
“I need to call you something.”
He looked at the nonexistent printer. “Call me Blank.”
The lockers belonged to Carefree Recovery, a company that claimed every investigation was visible. Its owner, Ma Cheng, was livestreaming his solution: a cleaner had stolen the safe. He showed sharp footage of her leaving with it.
Lu watched once and smiled. At 21:08:13, every passenger blinked together. The “evidence” was a loop assembled from several clips.
Disguised as a technician, he entered the control room. Cameras turned. Sixteen monitors erupted: rain on one, cooking on another, last night's cat on a third. While the guards stared, Lu removed the server cache. Behind the cabinet was the silver severed-eye emblem.
