Chapter Two: Failure Is the Only Asset
To outsiders it would look like talent.
Chen knew talent was forty-three unburied versions of himself.
On attempt fifty-one, he found the real problem. There was not too little information. Every department insisted on telling the complete story. A passenger at a fork had three seconds and needed only three answers: which way, how much longer, and whether the accessible route worked.
For internal data he contacted Lin Zhi, an accessibility tester from his former company's project. She wore a cochlear implant, spoke softly, and demolished bad products without mercy.
At their first meeting, Chen spent ten minutes presenting a grand vision.
“Do you want to help passengers,” she asked, “or prove you're clever?”
Reset.
