Ethan looked up from his fake reading. Reiss slid a folded paper across the table to Sofia before leaving. She waited until he was gone, then brought it to Ethan. It was a list of companies. Energy infrastructure, defense technology, regional banking, rare-earth mining. Next to each was a date range and the initials VK. "Victor Kane?" Ethan said. "Maybe," Sofia said. "Or maybe someone wants us to think that." The first company on the list was Ironvale Resources, a small mining company with rights to a rare-earth deposit in Wyoming. It had poor cash flow, environmental litigation, and a market cap too small for serious institutional attention.
