The First Turnaround
By Game 3 of the Open Qualifier, Northline Pulse was already standing on the edge.
They had been smashed in Game 1 by a hyper-aggressive European-style duo. Game 2 was better; they stabilized, rotated early, and banked a decent placement, but their total points still sat right on the qualification line. By Game 3, the pressure was heavy enough to feel physical.
On the broadcast, the same old streamer who had laughed earlier repeated himself: “This team surviving this long is already a surprise. There are no miracles in Zero Build.”
The Twitch chat was no kinder:
“Ranked kid.”
“Meme boy.”
“One decent game doesn’t make a pro.”
Chase saw the messages, but this time his breathing stayed steady.
