Chapter Two: The Error Enters Reality
“Does property damage count as harm?” Gu asked.
“We'll see whether the system acknowledges it.”
The green light flickered. The word *absolutely* fractured on the board.
Ten meters.
The annotation changed.
【TRIGGERED.】
The pedestrians regained control and threw themselves aside. As the bus crossed the green boundary, it lost the protection of “will not stop.” Every real mechanical failure hit at once. Its wheels locked, and it slammed sideways into the divider, stopping half a meter from the nearest person.
For two seconds there was silence. Then came screams and sobbing.
The blackboard screens shattered. A dark creature crawled from beneath the bus, as if limbs from many bodies had been stitched together.
