Chapter Five: Seven Walls

On the seventh, Black Tide's defense had shifted to one side. Han turned and screened for Su without the ball. Zhou threw off the backboard; Su caught the rebound on the far side and scored. Seven-six, Wildfire. The arena fell quiet. After a timeout, Chen whispered to Zhou, “The dirty money came from Su's mother's account. Want her investigated too?” Zhou hesitated. Chen stole and scored from deep. Eight-seven. “We altered Han's second scan too,” Chen said next. “Without our signature, he never gets disability insurance.” Nine-seven. Chen knew their deepest wounds. He only needed Zhou to believe every cost was his alone. At the top of the arc, three driving lanes glowed in Zhou's Forecast. Every one ended in a trap.
