Lin forced himself not to look at the layers named after his mother. He placed last night’s printed warning on the scanner. The system failed to recognize it. On the sheet, the words BLOOD-RELATED were fading.
“Paper isn’t an original either,” NULL said. “Neither is memory. Every choice you make is only another version on my canvas.”
“He’s lying,” Tang said.
For the first time, emotion entered the voice from the speaker. “How can you tell?”
“Because you’re waiting for him to be frightened. Someone who can rewrite everything would not need to explain how powerful he is.”
