Lin caught the flaw. He hid the canvas without quitting the program, selected the color sampler, and captured the cyan-violet noise around NULL’s profile. Then he searched every channel of the penthouse source image for that sample. A figure appeared in the reflection of the garage glass. The software had altered the subject but missed the reflection. The figure wore a cap and a temporary Obsidian Advertising pass. Its number ended in 0719. NULL began deleting layers. Before the image vanished, Lin struck the physical print button. The printer produced half a photograph. The rest was black, but the pass number survived. On-screen, the blank face turned toward Tang as if studying a blind spot that should not exist.
