“Everything you gain, Lin Yan, I can take away.”
“Then why delete the evidence?” Lin held up the print. “Because the rules bind you too. You aren’t a god. You’re an editor with higher permissions.”
The monitor died. The hidden room groaned as if reality were squeezing the error shut. They escaped before the doorway disappeared behind them.
In his forty-eight-million-yuan living room, Lin held half a photograph whose value could not be measured. He sent a message to Su Wanqing. They had been apart for two years, and he had never contacted her first.
“Are you still investigating Obsidian’s fraudulent advertising? I have a photograph that kills.”
Her familiar profile replied minutes later.
“Address. Don’t touch the original. I’m coming now.”
