Xiaoman leaned closer, frightened for the first time. “What they're taking tomorrow isn't Wen Cheng.”
Wen touched her throat. “What is it?”
“Your judgment. That year, you refused a contract because the director locked the audition room. Later everyone said you never said no to a project.”
Their phones began vibrating. A video showed another, long-haired Wen entering an Obsidian hotel to attend the brand dinner in her place. She wore a black dress locked in the company wardrobe and told reporters, “I have never left my team. I will always trust the company's arrangements.”
The footage was too clear to dismiss as synthetic. Wen's official account reposted it while her phone remained untouched.
“The public has seen her,” Jianwei said.
