” The gentle sleep slipped into Su Li's badge, leaving her able to turn the city's second layer of sound up or down.
Her delight lasted ten seconds. Xu Tang handed her strong coffee. “You paid with wakefulness.”
“For how long?” Su Li yawned.
“Forty-eight hours,” Wen Jiu said.
She collapsed onto the counter. Just before sleep, she heard a faint voice deep within the ledger.
