Chapter One: The Ace They Stole
She had come to interview Gu Lingfeng, but had captured the entire shot.
“Do you have video?” Lu asked.
“Swing to cup. Not a frame missing.” She smiled. “Congratulations.”
Gu Lingfeng was not smiling. He took the ball and rubbed it with his thumb. A faint silver-gray powder stained his skin.
Ten minutes later, alarms rang.
Disciplinary director Ma Huicheng sealed the green with security officers. He removed a wafer-thin magnetic ring from the cup and found a packet of magnetic powder inside Lu Chen's golf bag. Surveillance showed Lu alone in the seventeenth-hole maintenance corridor seven minutes before the shot. The distant camera had gone black for the crucial eleven seconds.
