Chapter One: The Falling Bouquet
Jo arrived with two officers. “Your assistant has an interesting history, Mr. Tang. He was investigated for imprisoning an ex-girlfriend. Also, why did we find sedatives and a basement access card in the wedding car?”
Theo finally lost color.
Serena removed her veil. She did not cry. She walked up to Theo and slapped him.
“The wedding is canceled.”
Hundreds of phones rose. The Tang family tried to darken the screens, but Jo had already replaced the wedding montage with the GPS record and proxy agreement. The flower-covered aisle became the route by which police escorted the groom away.
Later, alone in the bridal room, Mira touched the bouquet through its pouch. The basement was gone. In its place stood a sunny art studio.
