“The report is distributed among seven public archives. Download it in the right order and you can prove no one replaced it later.” Tang pushed over an old diskless computer. “You have forty minutes. The people outside are waiting too.”
Someone in a black car raised a phone. They were not there to prevent access. They were waiting to catch Lin possessing the record, then accuse him of stealing trade secrets.
It was a compliance trap.
Lin downloaded nothing. He visited each public archive, generated timestamp proofs, and published the checksum order to an independent academic registry.
